BSL Racing Midget driver Michael Pickens has taken his fourth New Zealand Midget title after a dominant display at Huntly speedway over the weekend.

The meeting, sponsored by BSL Racing, saw the competitors split into four groups with each group group sending four drivers through Saturday night’s championship racing automatically, while a further four cars from the two repercharge races on Saturday night would complete the 20 car line-up.

Kiwi speedway driver Michael Pickens has continued his winning ways on his ten-race tour of America, taking his second victory in the prestigious USAC midget series, the toughest midget series in the world.
 

28-year-old midget car driver Michael Pickens has taken a strong second place at the Barry Butterworth Classic, the highest placed Kiwi at the end of the grueling 40-lap feature race.

The meeting ran across two nights, with the opening night running at Huntly speedway before transferring to Springs Speedway in Auckland for the Saturday night, including the 40-lap, winner-takes-all feature race.
